AR
Currently, to view your models or example files in Augmented Reality on your mobile device, you'll need to store the files online. For example, I work on a Mac, so I use an iCloud folder where I save the files I want to view in AR. Other options include Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
WebAR on Android: Requirements and Considerations
While NearSolid delivers a smooth Augmented Reality (AR) experience on iPhones, compatibility on Android devices can vary. This is because Android requires specific hardware and software capabilities for optimal WebAR performance.
Note:
Additionally, Android currently has some limitations when it comes to placing models in the environment. For example, placing an object on a wall is not yet supported—this feature is currently available only on iOS. We're keeping an eye on upcoming improvements in AR support for Android.
ARCore: The Key to AR on Android
The core technology that enables AR on Android is called ARCore. Developed by Google, ARCore allows devices to understand their environment and place virtual objects accurately.
- What is ARCore?
- ARCore uses the device's camera and sensors to detect flat surfaces and track movement. This allows AR applications, such as NearSolid, to overlay 3D objects onto the real world.

Device Compatibility
Not all Android devices are compatible with ARCore. To check if your device is compatible, you can consult Google's official list of supported devices:

Additional Considerations
- Depth Sensors: Some Android devices have depth sensors that enhance AR accuracy. If your device has a depth sensor, NearSolid can provide an even more immersive AR experience.
- Performance: AR performance can vary depending on the device's capabilities. Devices with more powerful processors and more RAM will offer smoother performance.
In summary:
- To enjoy the best WebAR experience with NearSolid on Android, ensure your device is ARCore compatible.
- Check Google's list of supported devices to confirm compatibility.
- Keep in mind that AR performance can vary based on your device's hardware capabilities.
